Sonoma Valley is entertained by 5 towns – Sonoma, Agua Caliente, Glen Ellen, Kenwood and Santa Rosa. The Sonoma Plaza in the city of Sonoma is the flagship spot of the valley and a location of some historical importance. The Bear Flag revolution started here, an uprising that lead to the forming of the State of California. It is also home to the last of the Spanish Missions, Mission San Francisco Solano (1823). There are many historical buildings telling the remarkable story of early California. In fact, California was born here and many events denoting it’s history take place in the large grassy park that centers the Sonoma Plaza. Fabulous restaurants, word class wine tasting and a little shopping make it a popular stop on many a wine tour.
